There are many beautifully detailed, ornately decorated, period designed, century wood burning family fireplaces across Canada. Some of them have had their firechambers , smoke chambers and masonry chimneys restored to meet current building code requirements. All of this expensive “behind the wall” work is never seen, but tens of thousands of dollars are invested to start a wood fire, deal with the attendant ashes and soot and vent environmentally insane smoke. This huge investment is made to enjoy a very few weekends and winter holidays

The 21st century’s answer to a real fire in a beautiful but internally damaged or condemned fireplace are Planika’s A-01, A-02 and A-03 Biofire insert grates. The A-01 is styled for modern fireplaces and the A-02 and A-03 have a more traditional look. Their stainless steel reservoir and damper systems safely feed, control or shut down the fire. A special formula of liquid Fanola® fuel based on alcohol, which when burning, releases only carbon dioxide and steam in proportions similar to those contained in air exhaled by humans, is the fuel of choice. The Fanola® fueled fire delivers robust dancing flames in their natural intense colours. The insert grates and Fanola® fuel can bring the element of fire back into your life, safely and economically. Fueling is easily accomplished by refilling the 2L stainless steel reservoir for a 2 to 3 hour burn time.
